I am Oliver S. Daniel and I was born in the town of Thanjavur in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu in the southern part of India.

Though I was born in India, I left for Burma (now Myanmar) and did most of my schooling in St. John's High School and in I.E.S. Khalsa High School, Rangoon.

I came back to India and did my Matriculation at St. Mary's High School, Karaikal (1963-65) and my Pre-University at St. Joseph's College. Trichirappalli (1965-66) and continued to do my Bachelor's in Civil Engineering at Thiagaraja College of Engineering, Madurai (1966-71). I also did my Master's in the field of Irrigation Water Management at the College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai; but unfortunately, did not complete it.

Being am a Civil Engineer by education, I joined the Public Works Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, working mainly in the field of Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering. I have carried out investigations, design and construction of dams and their appurtenant works during the 33 years of my service in this Department.

At present I am engaged in freelance article writing, both well researched original articles and the rewriting of articles.
